What it does
Long recordings often contain only a few seconds that matter — a chorus, a motif, or the cleanest part of a live capture. Audio Trimmer helps you isolate that region without installing desktop software. You load a file, set start and end points, preview the selection, and export only the part you need. Everything is decoded and sliced in the browser, so the original full file never has to leave your machine. Trimming is especially useful before song recognition: shorter, focused clips usually match more reliably than a full track with long intros, applause, or silence.
Why trim an audio file?
An audio trimmer is useful for removing long silences, keeping a chorus, preparing a sample, shortening a voice note, or isolating the clearest few seconds of a song. A focused clip is also easier to share and can be more useful when you are preparing audio for recognition or analysis.
The selection controls work across the full decoded duration of your file. Preview the chosen range before exporting. The tool writes a WAV copy of the selected samples; it does not overwrite your original file, and no account or server upload is required.
Choose clean start and end points
For a useful cut, place the boundaries just outside the phrase you want to keep. Leaving a small amount of context before a vocal, riff, or beat can make the edit sound more natural than cutting exactly on the first audible transient. Use the preview to catch clipped syllables, clicks, or leftover silence before exporting.
The trimmer creates a new WAV from the selected decoded samples. It does not overwrite the source file or change the original recording. This makes it convenient for preparing short music samples, practice loops, voice notes, and focused clips for further analysis.
How to use it
Open your file
Upload an audio or common video container that the browser can decode. Wait until the duration and waveform are ready.
Set the selection
Move the Start and End controls until the highlighted region covers only the music you care about. Watch the duration readout so you know how long the export will be.
Preview the cut
Play the selection alone to confirm there is no unwanted silence, talk, or noise at the edges.
Export the clip
Apply the trim to build a new audio buffer and download it, or pass it into another tool such as Normalize or Song Recognizer.
Tip: Preview the selection from beginning to end before exporting. A few extra milliseconds can preserve a transient or the natural tail of a note.

01Will trimming reduce quality?+
The cut is sample-accurate on the decoded PCM buffer. You are not re-encoding until you download; choose WAV when you want a lossless export.
02Can I trim video files?+
If the browser can extract an audio track from the container, the tool will work on that audio. Video frames are not edited.
03What is a good length for recognition?+
Often 10–20 seconds of a clear section is enough. Very short or very noisy selections are harder to identify.
04Does the full file stay in memory?+
Yes, until you leave the page or load another file. Large files may use more RAM; prefer shorter sources when possible.
