About this tool

What it does

Audio Splitter turns one long recording into multiple smaller files you can download separately. Instead of one huge MP3 or WAV, you get clean parts for chapters, songs, podcast segments, or study chunks — with split points you control on a live waveform.

Unlike a simple trim that keeps a single range, this tool is built for many boundaries at once. You preview the full timeline, place cuts, and export each segment in WAV or MP3 without uploading anything to a server.

Three split modes

Equal parts divides the file into N segments of the same length — useful when a transcription service or messenger has a time or size limit and you need uniform pieces.

Markers is for precise chapter-style cuts: play or click the waveform, move the playhead, then press Split (or the M key) to drop a boundary. Each marker becomes a cut; you get markers + 1 files.

At silence scans for quiet stretches longer than your minimum gap and places a cut in the middle of each pause. Ideal for live sets, compilation albums, and audiobooks where tracks or chapters are separated by real silence. Tune threshold (dB) and minimum silence length until the green lines sit where you expect.

When to use it

Split audiobooks into chapters, break a long podcast into episodes or ad-friendly blocks, cut a lecture into study segments, pull individual songs out of a continuous recording, or prepare shorter files for upload limits. After splitting, each part can go straight into the Trimmer, Normalizer, or Media Converter.

Workflow

How to use it

01

Upload audio

Drop an MP3, WAV, FLAC, or other browser-supported file. Decoding stays local.

02

Pick a mode

Equal parts, Markers, or At silence — then tune the controls until the preview matches what you want.

03

Preview splits

Split lines appear on the waveform. Play from any point before you commit.

04

Export parts

Click Split & Prepare Downloads, then download each part or all at once.

Tip: For compilation albums, start with At silence around −40 dB and 0.8–1.5 s minimum gap, then add or remove markers if a boundary is off.

FAQ

Questions about Audio Splitter

01How do I split an audio file into multiple parts?+

Upload a file, choose Equal parts, Markers, or At silence, preview the split lines on the waveform, then click Split & Prepare Downloads. Each part can be downloaded separately or all at once.

02Can I split an MP3 into individual songs?+

Yes, when there is a clear gap between tracks. Use At silence and adjust threshold and minimum length until markers sit between songs. For DJ mixes with continuous sound, Markers mode is more reliable.

03How do I split an audiobook into chapters?+

If you know chapter times, use Markers and drop a split at each start. If the narrator leaves longer pauses, At silence with a higher minimum (about 2–3 seconds) often finds chapter boundaries automatically.

04Are the split parts smaller than the original?+

Each part is only as long as its segment, so individual files are smaller. Total size across all parts is similar to the original for the same format, plus a small header overhead per file.

05Can I download all parts at once?+

Yes. After splitting, use Download all parts. Your browser may ask permission for multiple downloads — allow once and the rest follow.

06Is my file uploaded to a server?+

No. Decoding, silence detection, splitting, and export run entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to our servers for processing.
